Understand the meaning of each phase in astrology and learn how to make better use of the energy of the cycles in your daily life

Before talking about the phases of the Moon, it is essential to understand why lunar energy is so powerful and so necessary in our daily lives. The Moon is not just a star in the sky: it represents a living, pulsating principle deeply connected to our human experience.

In astrology, it is closely linked to the feminine, not in the sense of gender, but as a universal archetype: the principle of nutrition, acceptance, receptivity and the ability to feel. It is the instance that teaches us to recognize emotions, to fuel ourselves emotionally and to create bonds of belonging — with our body, with our history, with the Earth and with others. However, this is just one of its meanings.

Moon as emotional memory and ancestry

The Moon also carries memory. It talks about our ancestry, the women who came before usof the symbolic womb that generated us and the experiences that shaped us emotionally. When we talk about the Moon, we talk about memory, instinct, inherited patterns and the way we digest life. Not surprisingly, it governs everything that is liquid: the waters of the planet, the fluids of the body and the emotional tides that pass through us.

Just as it moves the oceans, the Moon activates what is most sensitive in us. We are mostly made of water and are therefore impacted by the lunar cyclicity, albeit unconsciously. The star governs the night, mystery, dreams, fears and what emerges when rational control diminishes.

Influence of the Moon on feminine instinct and potency

The Moon is instinct, it is wild, it is an inner child, it is repressed desire and it is also welcoming. She represents the archetype of the fertile woman, of abundance, of sexuality, of the exuberance of the night and the ability to generate life — not only in the biological sense, but in the creative and symbolic sense. It is the great womb of the Earth, which envelops, nourishes and sustains.

At the same time, the Moon is complex. When not consciously integrated, it can manifest itself as excessive attachment to the past, victimism, compulsions and diffuse fears. When lived in its high vibration, it returns the ability to nourish and be nourished, to belong, to embrace one’s own story and transform it into strength.

Therefore, following the Moon is not superstition: it is self-knowledge. It’s understanding how we feel, how we react, how we absorb the world and how our history influences the present. In the birth chart, the star reveals our emotional vision of life. In its cyclicality in the sky, it offers us a natural rhythm to live more consciously.

Main phases of the Moon in astrology

In astrology, we consider four main lunar phases, which are repeated every cycle of approximately 29 days, covering almost an entire month. Each phase represents a specific invitation:

New moon

It’s the beginning of the cycle. A portal of mystery, silence and potential. The New Moon symbolizes new beginnings, planting intentionsdemonstrations and new directions. It is a time to trust the invisible, to listen to intuition and to sow what has not yet taken shape.

Crescent Moon

This is the phase of challenges and adjustments. Here, obstacles arise that test the intention planted at the New Moon. It is the time to act, overcome internal and external resistance and strengthen choices.

Full moon

It is the peak of the lunar cycle and the moment of greatest emotional intensity. At the Full Moon, everything overflows: feelings, perceptions, revelations and culminations. This is when what was hidden becomes visible. Emotions run high and important decisions often emerge.

Waning Moon

It is the closing of the cycle. THE Waning Moon invites completion, cleaning and purification. It’s time to release patterns, close processes and release what no longer makes sense to carry into the next cycle.

Following the lunar calendar can change the way you liver

Living aligned with the phases of the Moon means learning to respect the natural timing of things. Not everything is about acting, not everything is about expanding all the time. There are times to plant, to sustain, to harvest and to close. When we align ourselves with the lunar calendar, we are able to plan better, make more conscious decisions and understand our own emotional rhythms. This directly impacts work, relationships, emotional health and the way we deal with the past.

Starting 2026 by looking at astrology and the phases of the Moon can be a great path guide. The star teaches us that maturing is not denying history, but learning to nourish ourselves with it. It’s getting out of unconscious repetition and bringing light — awareness — to what was previously automatic.

If you want to deepen this connection and learn how to adapt to the phases of the Moon in a personalized way every month, an astrological consultation can bring clarity, direction and acceptance. The sky does not determine, but guides — and the Moon is one of the most precious keys to this map.
