With the arrival of the new season, it’s time to exchange fresh fragrances for more intense and full-bodied ones.

Among the seasons, autumn tends to be one of the most popular periods, with milder temperatures, cool weather and a cozy atmosphere. With its arrival, the desire for more intense, enveloping fragrances that last longer on the skin grows.

It is common that, in autumn, fresher and citrusy perfumes give way to more striking compositions, such as woody and gourmands. According to the specialist in fragrancesCEO and founder of Paralela Escola Olfativa, Alessandra Tucci, this exchange is very natural, as, just like in fashion, it follows the mood of the season.

“These olfactory families are intense, engaging and provide the feeling of comfort that we seek at this time of year”, explains the expert, adding: “In addition, fragrances with notes of vanilla and spices have excellent projection and duration”.

Below, Alessandra Tucci lists the main olfactory families and how to choose the ideal one for autumn. Check it out!

1. Woody notes

The season calls for more engaging fragrances that refer to the robust and solid side of nature. Creamy notes of sandalwood, the nobility of cedar and the moist depth of patchouli are some possibilities that gain prominence during this period, bringing depth and elegance to the compositions.

“Autumn is ideal for choosing fragrances with more presence and personality, with a lot of staying power and that adapt perfectly to both cooler days and colder nights”, adds the expert.

Product suggestions: Seduction for Men EDT, de Animale.

2. Gourmand essences

For an extra dose of sweetness, gourmand perfumes are the protagonists in Brazilian women’s collections. Striking and sensorial, these compositions awaken the senses and, with just a few sprays, offer a striking and bold experience.

“Known as the confectionery of perfumery, gourmands go beyond simple sweetness. Not all sweet perfumes belong to this family. To identify them, it is essential to observe the presence of notes that create this sensorial construction of dessert, such as praline (caramelized chestnuts), whipped cream, pistachio, chocolate, coffee, creams and almonds”, explains Alessandra Tucci.

3. Florals

Florals are timeless and work well in all seasons. With lower temperatures, more powerful and exuberant flowers take center stage, such as jasmine, iris, gardenia, tuberose and ylang-ylang, which warm up the composition and intensify the elegance, working perfectly all day long. “When combined with vanilla or spices, floral fragrances gain new facets and more depth, are ideal for mild temperatures, and have excellent fixation”, completes specialist.

Product suggestions: Rose Paris, de Sahari; Blueberry Musk, de Arabiyat.

4. Amber/Oriental

Intense, engaging, sensual and sophisticated, the perfumes of this family stand out for their warm compositions, which generally combine notes of vanilla, amber and spices, such as cinnamon and ginger, creating an aura of mystery and elegance.

“Because they have greater intensity and a warmer profile, these fragrances are especially recommended for colder days and for those who want to make a statement. They are at the same time sophisticated and engaging, and have high projection and prolonged lasting power, characteristics that perfectly reflect the spirit of autumn”, concludes Alessandra Tucci.

Product suggestions: Club Black EDP, by Mercedes-Benz; Durrat Al Aroos, de Al Wataniah.
