Some behaviors deserve attention to prevent specific issues from becoming bigger obstacles
Fluctuations in academic performance throughout the year are common. After the initial period of adaptation, many students begin to face challenges such as tiredness, lack of motivation and difficulty concentrating, factors that, when neglected, can compromise academic progress.
Although these changes are part of the learning process, some behaviors deserve attention to prevent specific issues from becoming bigger obstacles in the following months. According to Cláudia Mialichi, educational manager at Colégio Olímpico DF, noticing these signs in advance and adjusting the daily organization strategically is essential for students to find their rhythm and develop more effective learning methods.
“The fluctuation in performance is part of the learning process, but it needs to be observed carefully. The sooner the student notices these signs, the greater the chances of reorganizing their way of studying and recovering results”, he explains.
According to the educator, there are five main signs that it is time to review the preparation dynamics:
1. Frequent difficulty concentrating
When paying attention during classes, readings or tasks becomes a constant challenge, even in suitable environments.
2. Recurring procrastination
Frequently postponing activities, reviews and work may indicate disorganization or difficulty maintaining engagement.
3. Drop in grades or performance
Results below expectations, difficulty keeping up with new content or increased errors in evaluations are important signals.
4. Excessive tiredness and discouragement
The constant feeling of physical or mental exhaustion can directly affect the ability to apprenticeship.
5. Loss of interest in studies
When school tasks start to generate resistance, frustration or lack of involvement.
Strategies to improve performance in studies
For Cláudia Mialichi, the solution is not always in increasing the number of hours dedicated to content. “Often, small changes in the way time is organized already produce a significant impact. More important than studying for more hours is ensuring that this period is being used with method and purpose”, he highlights.
Recommended strategies include creating realistic weekly goals, alternating between disciplines to make preparation more dynamic, reducing digital distractions and valuing planned breaks.
Pay attention to habits and goals
The quality of I amthe practice of physical activities and the balance between academic dedication, leisure and rest also appear as fundamental factors to sustain good results. “Motivation does not always arise spontaneously. It is often a consequence of constancy. Creating habits and establishing possible goals is the most efficient way to regain engagement”, he states.
Another point highlighted is the importance of close monitoring by family and school. “Adequate support, without excessive demands, helps students recognize their challenges and develop autonomy to overcome them”, concludes Cláudia Mialichi.
