Assistive technology plays an increasingly relevant role in promoting the inclusion and independence of visually impaired people. Adapted programs, devices and methodologies have been transforming the daily life of those who are blind or have low vision, ensuring more autonomy, access to information and opportunities for study, work and leisure.

Here are some solutions that help promote the accessibility of visually impaired people!

1. Screen readers and softwares accessibility

Programs that transform digital texts into audio or braille offer access to computers, cell phones and online content, ensuring digital inclusion and access to information.

2. Mobile devices and inclusive applications

Smartphones equipped with accessibility resources and applications developed especially for blind or low vision people allow from reading documents to assisted urban mobility.

3. Printers and displays braille

Equipment that converts physical or digital braille texts is fundamental to inclusive education, as well as contributing to more affordable professional environments.

These and other initiatives will be presented by Laramara (Brazilian Association of Assistance to Visual Impaired) at the 11th World Visual Impairment Meeting, which takes place from September 1st to 5th, at the Anhembi District Convention Center, in São Paulo.

Recognized as one of the most important international accessibility forums, the event makes room for the exchange of experiences with experts and organizations from various countries. Laramara’s participation reinforces its reference role in Brazil and strengthens the global commitment to the inclusion and dissemination of technologies that transform lives.
