See how to make environments more beautiful and welcoming, as well as promoting physical and mental health

More than a decorative element, plants play an important role in the emotional and energetic balance of environments. According to Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese technique that studies harmony between spaces and people, the presence of vegetation can attract good energy, encourage calm and promote physical and mental health.

According to Ana Paula Caramico Lasaponari, project and development manager at BRN Construtora, adding plants to the architectural design and decoration transforms not only the look of the home, but also the experience of living in it.

Below, in partnership with the professional, we share some tips for making your home more welcoming with the use of plants. Check it out!

1. Take advantage of spaces

Even in compact properties, it is possible insert plants in a creative and functional way. “Those who live in apartments can opt for hanging vases, vertical shelves or wall supports, which bring greenery without compromising circulation”, explains Ana Paula Caramico Lasaponari. In single-story houses, flower boxes and low beds along the entrance are great alternatives to create a pleasant and welcoming look.

Among the species recommended by the specialist, the following stand out: sword-of-São Jorge and zamioculca, ideal for environments with low light and low need for watering; peace lily and boa constrictor, perfect for indoor areas, due to their elegance and freshness; succulents and cacti, great for those looking for practicality and low maintenance.

2. Invest in strategic lighting

Directed luminaires or warm lights help to enhance the green of the leaves and create a more welcoming atmosphere, especially at night. By positioning the lighting strategically, it is possible to highlight the textures, volumes and shapes of the plants, transforming these elements into highlights in the decoration.

Plants not only beautify the environmentbut also contribute to thermal comfort and air quality. When combined with elements such as light floors, natural lighting and cross ventilation, they promote fresher and healthier environments.

“In contemporary architecture, well-being goes far beyond the layout of the property and the choice of furniture. Integration with landscaping elements, textures and natural shapes creates a harmonious connection with nature, which brings positive benefits to physical, mental and emotional well-being. This approach provides a feeling of welcome and contributes to a significant improvement in quality of life”, says the professional.

4. Integrate plants into functional decor

In addition to decorating, the plants can be inserted in compositions with supporting furniture, such as benches, coat racks and shelves. These elements help to create multifunctional areas in everyday life, such as a corner to take off shoes, hold bags or leave keys and mail.

5. Integrate natural materials

While plants bring life, freshness and movement to the environment, natural materials, such as stones, pebbles, clay or cement, add neutrality. The result is a harmonious composition, which enhances both the organic and structural aspects. This mix works especially well in contemporary and minimalist decorations, which prioritize clean lines, neutral palettes and the integration between natural and architectural elements.
