May will begin under the influence of the Full Moon in Scorpio, on the 1st, intensifying emotions and bringing to light deep issues linked to bonds. Water signs will tend to become more sensitive to this lunation, perceiving everything with greater intensity.
According to Wladimir Barros, astrologer at Astrolink, the entry of Mercury in Taurus, a sign opposite Scorpio, directing thoughts towards a more concrete, prudent pattern focused on practical support. The result will be a tension between what one feels intensely and what one seeks to evaluate objectively, which will present itself as an invitation not to act solely on emotional impulse.
On the 4th, the square between Mars and Jupiter in cardinal signs will reach its peak and form one of the central points of May’s dynamics. This aspect will tend to intensify reactions, increase excessive optimism and encourage hasty attitudes, especially when the action is mixed with instincts of defense, pride, belonging or the need to protect what is considered essential.
The beginning of May will require emotional balance
Astrologer Wladimir explains that, for much of May, Mars will remain in Aries, its ruling sign, where it tends to feel at home, accelerating initiatives, confrontations and the urgency to assert one’s will. Jupiter will continue its transit through Cancer, expanding emotional, family and territorial themes, which could increase the risk of exaggerated responses and an over-reading of threats.
“In practice, the beginning of May can bring greater propensity for conflicts over space, ego clashes, decisions in the heat of the moment and difficulty in recognizing measures. It is a part of the month that tests the difference between courage and recklessness, between legitimate strength and inflamed reactivity. Caution is recommended, especially when there is a feeling of invasion, pressure or emotional instability”, suggests Wladimir Barros.
Pluto retrograde and Uranus in Gemini
As the weeks progress, the sky will no longer operate solely due to the discharge of tension. Pluto will begin its retrograde movement in Aquarius, opening a period in which collective models, rising technologies and society’s relationship with the future will undergo a temporary review. It is likely that advances in artificial intelligence, already accelerated since the entry of Uranus in Gemini, be evaluated and consolidated before your next important leaps.
This entire movement will occur within a larger backdrop: the definitive entry of Uranus into Gemini, which occurred on April 26th and will redefine the entire astrological environment from now on, inaugurating a faster, more mobile, inventive and unstable cycle in the field of ideas, communication, narratives, learning, displacements and technological mediations.
On May 17th, Uranus will conjunct Mercury in Gemini, intensifying the circulation of information, the need for exchange, the multiplicity of stimuli and the sensation of speed. May will thus move from a more closed and reactive axis to a more changeable one, without losing, however, the requirement for discernment.
On May 18, two simultaneous movements will change the tone of the month: Mars will enter Taurus and Venus will enter Cancer. While Mars in Touro will bring more deliberation, persistence and focus on concrete resources, it can also accentuate stubbornness. The impulse stops being explosive and becomes more firm and sustained.
According to Wladimir Barros, Venus in Cancer will place a more sensitive and protective layer on relational dynamics, favoring bonds of care, belonging, intimacy and emotional preservation. What offers shelter, security and familiarity will gain more symbolic weight. “This stage of the month becomes less explosive than the beginning, but more dense in terms of support, attachment and the need to consolidate what has concrete or affective value”, he says.
On May 20th, the Sun will enter Gemini, a mutable sign that inaugurates the Gemini season and prepares the change of season that will be completed with the June solstice. The month will gain more mobility, curiosity, dialogue and openness to new frameworks of reality.
It is in the final stretch of the month that the moment of greatest impact is concentrated: the square between Mars and Pluto, which will reach its peak on May 26th. If the voltage between Marte and Jupiter at the beginning of the month fueled exaggerations, the square with Pluto will correspond to power disputes, attempts at imposition, resistance to change and conflicts over resources, territory and control.
With Mars in Taurus and Pluto in Aquarius, this square will bring a clash between preservation and rearrangement, between insistence on the known and forces that demand change and progress. It will be the most critical point of the month and the most activating of heightened tensions.
Even so, a harmonious aspect between the Sun and Pluto, on the same day, will offer more lucidity and a greater capacity for repositioning in the face of any pressure. The Full Moon in Sagittarius, on the 31st, will end the month on a note of optimism, although it can also bring exaggerations and some difficulty in measuring one’s words.
