Starring Fernando Caruso, “Cansei de Ser Nerd” follows the story of Aírton, a nerd who, during his college days, was unfairly accused of the disappearance and alleged murder of a colleague. After 20 years, he decides to see the whole class at the graduation reunion party. A reconciliation? Far from it. In fact, he intends to prove his innocence to his colleagues.

To this end, according to the official synopsis, he plans to reveal that the “popular people”, currently members of a successful new wave band, are the real culprits for the student’s death. “And, worse, they killed her in a ritual in search of fame. As the police realize the scheme, a chase begins, breaking links and revealing secrets. The production’s cast includes names such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played John Lennon in “The Boy from Liverpool”, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, known for the series “Loki”, and Sam Worthington, from “Avatar”.

Upon taking control of the property, the two initially preach that all animals are equal. However, as time passes, his ideals are corrupted and a new dictatorship is established. From then on, the farm lives under an increasingly authoritarian regime, in which the rules are distorted and the promise of freedom gives way to oppression.

4. Bitter Christmas

New film by Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar, “Bitter Christmas” is the type of work that encourages reflection right from the title. The plot moves between two parallel stories. On one side is the publicist Elsa (Bárbara Lennie), who lost her mother during the Christmas holidays and immerses herself in work to escape her grief. Directed by Michal Kwieciński, the title shows how the pianist became one of the most romantic figures of Parisian nightlife and a mandatory presence at meetings of the nobility and the king.

On the other hand, it also shows Chopin’s fight against a serious lung disease, which led him to dedicate himself as much as possible to composition given the limited life span. The work stars Eryk Kulm and is limited to a few cinemas in the country.
