Present in traditional recipes such as paçoca, pé de moleque and typical sweets, peanuts gain prominence during June festivals. Although it is often associated only with high-calorie foods during this period, the ingredient also has important nutritional properties.

According to professor Camila Junqueira, coordinator of the Nutrition course at Faculdade Anhanguera, the ingredient can be part of a balanced diet when consumed in moderation. “Peanuts are rich in good fats, important proteins, vitamins and minerals for the functioning of the organism. The problem usually lies in the excess sugar and added ingredients in some typical preparations”, he explains.

1. Helps with the feeling of satiety

Because it contains proteins and good fatspeanuts contribute to a greater feeling of satiety, helping to control hunger throughout the day.

As it is a source of vegetable protein, peanuts can also contribute to muscle maintenance when combined with healthy habits.

The main care with peanuts should be related to the quantity consumed and the excesses common during the June festivals. “Typical foods can indeed be part of a balanced diet. The most important thing is to avoid exaggeration and seek balance in your choices, without the need for radical restrictions”, concludes Camila Junqueira.
