The kidneys perform very important functions in the body’s balance, such as filtering the blood, eliminating toxins and maintaining adequate levels of water and mineral salts. However, factors such as poor diet, low water consumption and excessive medication use silently overwhelm them over time.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a relevant cause of morbidity and mortality in Brazil and around the world. The entity estimates that the condition affects around 10% of the world’s population, approximately 850 million people.

To keep these organs functioning well, it is important to adopt healthy habits, such as drinking plenty of water, practicing physical activity, maintaining a balanced diet with little salt and avoiding excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages and ultra-processed foods.
