Written and created by Walcyr Carrasco and Claudia Souto, the plot is the network’s big bet for prime time
The soap opera “Quem Ama Cuida” premiered this Monday (18/05), at 9pm on TV Globo. Written and created by Walcyr Carrasco and Claudia Souto, with artistic direction by Amora Mautner, the plot follows a story of transformation amid tragedies, being the broadcaster’s bet to consolidate prime time.
“Quem Ama Cuida” has narratives that are very similar to real life, and this is no coincidence. The story of Arthur Brandão (Antonio Fagundes), for example, was inspired by a personal experience of the author. Almost three years ago, Walcyr Carrasco broke his leg and had to go through an intense recovery process, working closely with physiotherapists. From this contact, the central point of the novel was born.
“I was inspired by myself, because I broke my legs and depended on a work with physiotherapy to walk again. I saw myself in the skin of [Antonio] Fagundes to write what happens from there”, revealed the author in an interview with NaTelinha.
Furthermore, the first chapter of the soap opera gave a glimpse of what the public can expect throughout the plot: lots of emotion, drama and many twists. So, below, see everything you need to know about “Quem Ama Cuida”!
Flood transforms the protagonist’s life
After a flood, the protagonist Adriana (Leticia Colin) and the base nucleus have their lives changed forever. Devastated by the loss of her husband swept away by the water, without a home and without a job, after being fired from the clinic where she worked as a physiotherapist, the young lady She leaves for a shelter where she meets Pedro (Chay Suede), an idealistic lawyer who instantly falls in love with her. However, the meeting is quick and they soon become distant.
After some time, she starts working at the residence of Arthur Brandão (Antonio Fagundes), an influential jewelry businessman who leads a lonely life marked by absences and the indifference of his own family, especially his brothers.
At first, their relationship is difficult, but soon they get closer and build a beautiful friendship. Arthur’s heart of stone ends up being moved by Adriana’s family and, motivated by the desire to prevent his self-interested relatives from enjoying his fortune, he makes an unusual proposal: he asks the physiotherapist to marry him and makes her the sole holder of his money — not out of passion, but out of gratitude and friendship. Reluctantly, she accepts, but without imagining the problems that lie ahead.
Death and injustice
With the marriage of convenience agreement between Adriana and Arthur, Pedro’s repressed love — who, coincidentally, is the big businessman’s godson — begins to transform into distrust. Everything gets worse when, on the day of the engagement, the millionaire is murdered. Without money and the target of everyone’s suspicion, the protagonist becomes the main person accused of the crime.
Divided by his own feelings, Pedro puts his pride aside and tries to defend her in court. Unsuccessful, he loses the case, and the physiotherapist is sentenced to 12 years in prison. After serving 6 years of her sentence, Adriana leaves prison on parole, but with a single objective: to prove her innocence and find out who killed Arthur. To do this, he counts on the help of his faithful squire, Pedro, who remains by his side throughout the journey.
